Gold Tree portrays the vibrant beautiful colours of an exotic Golden Rain Tree in full bloom. The trees grow in Hanapepe Valley and their rich hues of cadmium yellow bloom for only a very short time. Surrounded by a growth of Bougainvillea in the background, the Golden Tree shimmers in the afternoon light. The painting celebrates the impact of bold light and colour in the traditional impressionist landscape and glistens with multi-directional brush strokes in a striking sea of colours and movement. Gold Tree has become James' signature image.
